Genelec Expands Smart Active Monitoring Range with 8320 and 8330 Monitors and 7350 Subwoofer
Gradually, Genelec has updated his monitor series with Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) auto-calibrating systems. Along with the advanced concept recently introduced in the new 8351 Acoustically Coaxial Smart Active Monitor, at the recent 137th AES convention, Genelec also introduced the new 8320 and 8330 compact monitors and a SAM subwoofer, 7350.
MOTU Expands AVB Interface Range with 24-Channel Units
In July 2014, Mark of The Unicorn (MOTU) surprised the industry announcing a range of USB/Thunderbolt audio interfaces complemented with Audio Video Bridging (IEEE 802.1 AVB) network technology. Since AVB requires the use of dedicated (AVB-certified) routers and switchers, MOTU also announced its own AVB Switch. Now, MOTU reinforced the range with two new AVB 24-channel interfaces.
Dante PCIe Now Includes Thunderbolt Expansion Support
Audinate has released its latest firmware update for the Dante PCIe soundcard. Version 3.7.1 delivers a range of new features, including audio signal presence indicators, latency statistics monitoring and packet error detection. In addition, the Dante PCIe high performance soundcard may now be used with several popular Thunderbolt expansion chassis from Magma, Sonnet Technologies and OWC.
NimbX SoGo Mini Speaker Portable Speaker with RGB Lights
NimbX Technology is currently promoting its new customizable Bluetooth portable speaker concept, with built-in RGB lights and Bone Conductive Technology - using surface vibration to increase volume and bass. The SoGo Mini also features a customizable app to control volume, the RGB lights and other functions. NimbX is currently looking to fund the SoGo Mini on Kickstarter.
Burl Audio Promotes Studio Integration With Dante
At the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles, Burl Audio announced Dante connectivity for its range of converter products, the B2 Bomber ADC, B2 Bomber DAC and the B80 Mothership modular system. The Santa Cruz, CA company, known for its high-quality converter design has adopted Audinate’s audio-over-IP format, allowing for any number of interfaces and computers to speak to one another on a standard network and route digital audio to allow true multiroom integration.
Yamaha’s Vocaloid Brings Back a Singing Voice from the Past
Yamaha re-created the singing voice of deceased Japanese musician “hide” (Hideto Matsumoto) using its unique singing voice synthesizer technology Vocaloid to complete unrecorded and unreleased songs. Analyzing in detail the massive amount of digital vocal data that the Japanese singer recorded during his lifetime, Yamaha was able to re-create his voice using Vocaloid technology.
