Softube Announces Console 1 Channel Mk III Mixing Controller
Swedish studio solutions innovators Softube introduced a new generation of its mixing control surface, the new Console 1 Channel Mk III. Taking even further the concept of a natural hardware expansion of the software the powers today's music production studios, Softube designed a surface that allows faster mixing with a knob-per-function workflow design. Touch-sensitive Analog Feel potentiometers deliver the same tactile feeling of the actual expensive hardware, matching the authentic sounds from the company known for precision modeling classic studio equipment.
Sennheiser Launches ACCENTUM Wireless Headphones
The new Sennheiser ACCENTUM Wireless headphones are a smaller and much more affordable version of the flagship MOMENTUM 4 Wireless model. While the MOMENTUM 4 is characterized for its understated elegance, contrary to its name the ACCENTUM Wireless headphones are even more plain looking. This was the product that the German brand was supposed to have launched at IFA 2023 and didn't. Likely, because Sennheiser's consumer division is now owned by Sonova, the Swiss audiology company that is still grappling to understand the consumer electronics space.

WiSA Technologies Announces 3-Channel Output Support for its WiSA E Receiver Module
WiSA Technologies has added 3-channel output capabilities to its WiSA E receiver module. This capacity lowers the cost of Atmos-based soundbars and minimizes the number of speakers required for true immersive audio. Three separate wireless audio channels can now be combined into a single speaker enclosure significantly reducing system cost while maintaining a convincing immersive Atmos soundfield.
DPA Microphones Relocates to Modern Headquarters
DPA Microphones, the Danish manufacturer of high-quality microphones, has opened new headquarters in Kokkedal, Denmark, a convenient suburb of Copenhagen, relocating from the original building in Allerød. The modernized space will put an emphasis on the brand's research and development (R&D) facilities, with significant upgrades and new studio spaces that encourage more creativity. The DPA production plant remains located in Asnæs, Denmark.
New Luxman L-509Z Flagship Integrated Amplifier
Luxman continues to prepare for 2025, the company’s centennial, with a new top-of-the-line integrated amplifier. In addition to the company's trademark sound quality, the L-509Z incorporates the Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System (LIFES1.0) in both the power amp and preamp sections. It's also the first with the Luxman Electronically Controlled Ultimate Attenuator-EX (LECUA-EX) volume control. The L-509Z integrated amplifier is available at a suggested retail price of $12,495.
Avid Expands Pro Tools Workflows with Pro Tools Sketch
Following a presentation at IBC 2023, in Amsterdam, where Avid previewed some breakthrough technologies coming soon to Pro Tools, including a new workflow for mixing Dolby Atmos content, the company announced Pro Tools Sketch, a new expansion for creators. The new Pro Tools Sketch is a clip-based creation tool that expands the desktop software features, enabling musicians to quickly capture new ideas and experiment with arrangements anywhere.
AES Launches Audio Loudness Web Portal
The Audio Engineering Society launched a new AES Loudness Project website. Because consistent loudness should be a goal of audio engineers for digital content delivery, the new portal provides tutorials developed by the AES Technical Committee for Broadcast and Online Delivery (TCBOD) on audio loudness, with guidelines for content production and distribution consistent with AES Recommended Practices from its Technical Council, and Standards committees.
