New Nixer Pro Audio CV1 Large Channel-Count Audio-over-IP Monitoring Tool

August 27 2025, 00:25
Nixer Pro Audio is debuting its CV1 — a compact all-in-one Audio-over-IP (AoIP) monitoring unit — at IBC 2025 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Designed for broadcast control rooms, production suites, recording studios, and live performance workflows, the new monitoring tool addresses evolving demands of quality, speed, and streamlined operations in those environments. With a single large and highly readable display, the CV1 optimizes integration with external reference active monitors and advanced loudness metering.

Dedicated to turning Audio over IP (AoIP) simpler, Nixer Pro Audio designs and manufactures a range of high-quality and cost-effective audio monitoring and diagnostics tools, switches, and patches supporting the standard audio networking formats, including Dante, Ravenna, AES67, and ST2110. Its solutions are relied upon daily by professional sound engineers, broadcast studios, and pro audio rental companies for critical on-air audio monitoring within live, install, and broadcast environments.

Having launched its flagship product, the PD Dante, in 2018, the company has a long and proven pedigree in electronic product design for the pro audio industry. Through the years, Nixer has developed a deep understanding of high-pressure environments and has continued to proudly design, build, and expand its product line as a direct result of customer and industry feedback.

The new CV1 is based on Nixer’s proven RLC64 rackmount unit and incorporates a series of enhancements following requests received from a national broadcaster, resulting in a solution that prioritizes quality, speed, and integration. Receiving a large number of channels in Dante, Ravenna/AES67, and ST 2110 formats, the CV1 offers a streamlined, speaker-free architecture to optimize integration with premium external loudspeakers and dedicated loudness meters via separate AES and line outputs.

“In live broadcast operations and recording studios, sound quality during audio monitoring is paramount,” says Nick Fletcher, founder and CEO of Nixer Pro Audio. “Being able to listen to all channels through high-quality external speakers provides audio professionals with greater assurance and control.”

The CV1 also features dual headphone outputs with independent level control through precision rotary encoders and provides access to 32 stereo inputs — including 30 AoIP inputs, one AES input, and one stereo line input. Instant access to all 32 inputs is available via touchscreen selection. Output control features include individual left and right channel mute, as well as a dim function with user-adjustable attenuation ranging from 0 to 30dB.

“We’ve introduced additional purpose-built functions such as phase reverse, mono sum, dim, channel mute, and customizable monitoring trims,” Fletcher continues. “These capabilities ensure speed, precision, and flexibility for mission-critical workflows by helping verify phase alignment and identify any audio anomalies.”

Optimized for efficient signal flow, CV1 supports advanced Dante, Ravenna/AES67, and ST2110 routing — developed in direct response to broadcaster requirements. The introduction of eight AoIP output channels gives users robust routing options in a wide range of audio setups. Additionally, input sources — whether AES, line-level, or AoIP — can be routed natively back into the AoIP network, eliminating the need for external format converters or additional rack-mounted infrastructure.

Source buttons can be renamed directly via the new Edit function on the main screen, while the Hold button has been relocated for improved clarity and accessibility. Additional configuration options include the ability to set the main meters to pre or post via the system menu and to route AES output either pre or post main volume and mute controls — ideal for tailoring output behavior to specific monitoring needs.

As distributors and integration teams begin specifying the CV1 in their projects, its feature set is already emerging as a highly sought-after solution across a diverse range of audio environments. Because this solution can also be used by rental and live sound companies that still rely on dedicated AVB networking from a handful of pro audio companies, Nixer also confirms that an AVB-Milan version of the CV1 is on its development roadmap. This unit’s adaptability is proving invaluable for sound engineers working in live broadcast and radio networks, music production, post-production, live sound reinforcement, and both fixed and remote broadcast galleries.

“The development of the CV1 represents our core philosophy: putting customers first and delivering exactly what they need,” concludes Fletcher. As the CV1 shares its architecture with Nixer’s WL64 and RL256 platforms, optional upgrades are set to be available in 2026 that enable wireless remote AoIP monitoring via iPads and web UI — keeping operators connected even beyond the rack.

The CV1 is now in full production and shipping globally, and Nixer Pro Audio will showcase its performance and capabilities firsthand at stand 8.F96 during IBC 2025, in Amsterdam.
