Audio Pro Launches W-Generation Speakers Powered By Linkplay

September 8 2025, 00:35
Proving how powerful a wireless ecosystem that just works can be, new brands are fully embracing WiiM’s technology and app, recognizing the success of the company’s transformation. Audio Pro, the Scandinavian audio brand known for its compact speakers with decent performance, unveiled its new W-generation at IFA 2025 in Berlin, with an extensive range of speaker designs, all “Powered by Linkplay”. More than just an upgrade, this new range covers every part of the Audio Pro portfolio, from the app to sound to design.

In the past, multiple manufacturers of wireless and “smart” speakers have worked with Linkplay to enable the range of functionalities that was beyond their scope of development capabilities. From wireless connectivity and voice commands, Linkplay delivered modules and custom apps to those companies, some of which have achieved significant market recognition. Audio Pro was one such brand, recognized by its Scandinavian-designed active and wireless speakers that looked “smart” but simply worked great and didn’t compromise users’ privacy.

Fast forward to 2023, and Linkplay made available its own reference designs directly on the market as affordable products, kickstarting its own WiiM brand - an immediate success on Amazon. The new range of versatile WiiM music streamers combined all the latest technologies and protocols, making it the ultimate home audio hub available, thanks in great part to a well-designed WiiM Home management app that worked well and received a series of updates that reflected users’ requests.

Embracing a brand new app powered by Liinkplay, combined with new updated and refined designs, Audio Pro introduced its latest generation of home speakers at IFA 2025 in Berlin. According to the Swedish speaker brand, the W-generation marks a key evolution for Audio Pro, bringing together cutting-edge engineering, elegant design, and powerful new software.

Although the products shown at IFA are marked as "Powered by WiiM", the company did reached out to request that the designation be changed to "Audio Pro Multiroom, Powered by Linkplay." This is to avoid confusion, since Linkplay is the parent company of WiiM, but the new Audio Pro W-generation with the new Audio Pro W app is not a part of the WiiM Ecosystem.

“We've worked hard on refreshing our entire range, listening to consumer feedback while adding new functionality to our classic sound,” says Henrik Dunér, CTO of Audio Pro. “This is a new era of what a wireless speaker should be. Under the hood, the W-generation takes a giant step forward in control and connectivity. A major app update, now Powered by Linkplay, supports an entirely new level of functionality, performance, and reliability.”

The updated app experience includes a completely redesigned interface for intuitive setup and control, advanced EQ and room correction tools, plus expanded streaming service support: Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Napter, TuneIn, and more. While many companies have had connectivity embedded modules that already introduced pre-certified solutions for all those streaming services and wireless technologies, not all companies have been able to have a single app to integrate all the available features and have customization plus room correction features such as the ones that WiiM is offering.

The Audio Pro new W-generation range of products also includes smarter Wi-Fi support with improved timing synchronization, essential for enhanced multi-room and grouping capabilities. As the company explains, all the multiple designs in the series have benefited from robust connectivity and improved troubleshooting overall.

“You’re not just getting new features, you’re getting a new, streamlined listening experience,” says Nils Ankarcrona, CEO of Audio Pro. “Perfect multiroom listening with a rock-solid app is something we're very proud of. Consumers demand a seamless experience, and we're happy to give it to them and let the music play.”

All W-generation speakers are backward-compatible with Audio Pro’s current products, ensuring a seamless integration for existing users. At the heart of the W-generation is also a redefined Audio Pro sound signature, which is dynamic and finely tuned to satisfy those who demand hi-fi sound from all-in-one speakers. “The engineering team has optimized every product in the lineup for greater clarity, lower distortion, and a huge increase in loudness. The result is a sound profile that’s immersive, powerful, and musical, even at high volume,” Nils Ankarcrona adds.

The flagship Audio Pro A48 W speaker, which looks more like a traditional hi-fi tower design, offers a +10–15dB increase in max sound pressure, featuring improved BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) tweeters for an impactful sound in any room. The compact A15 W now boasts a deeper, fuller bass and extended battery life, and every model delivers an experience far beyond its size.

“Our goal wasn’t to tweak the sound,” explains Dunér. “It was to rethink it from the ground up, tackling the full audio spectrum and getting the most musical sound from our small form factors.”

In parallel with the sonic overhaul, Audio Pro’s design team set out to unify the aesthetic of the range, creating a cohesive, premium look that balances Scandinavian minimalism with tactile richness. The new lineup features harmonized colors and logo placement across models, synchronized grille fabrics, refined metal finishes, and enhanced logo badges for a stronger visual identity. Subtle but meaningful changes (cleaner back plates, adjusted button panels, and updated texture finishes) reflect Audio Pro’s obsession with every detail. While the iconic silhouettes remain familiar, every component has been visually perfected. The result? A lineup that looks great solo or as a multiroom system.

The W-generation lineup includes refreshed versions of Audio Pro’s most popular models, such as the A10 MkII W that looked like an Amazon smart speaker (pictured above) without the privacy-breaking inconvenience; the larger and more traditional-looking A15 W, A28 W, A38 W, and A48 W models; the popular rectangular C5 MkII W, C10 MkII W, and C20 W, plus the stunning Drumfire II W and Drumfire D-2 W that look like miniature guitar amp stacks. Select W-generation models are also available in a walnut finish, adding a new natural tone to the brand’s portfolio. Prices range from EUR 300 for the compact C5 MkII W, to EUR 1,100 for the A48 W tower designs.

Audio Pro officially launched the W-generation at IFA Berlin 2025. Anyone visiting the WiiM website will notice how the WiiM A10 MKII WiiM Edition and WiiM C10 WiiM Edition are extremely similar to the Audio Pro models, and that’s not a coincidence. The official collaboration between WiiM and Audio Pro was actually announced in 2024, almost a year ago, and signaled the first integration of the powerful, feature-rich, and user-friendly WiiM OS into a third-party brand of wireless speakers.
