NXP and Widex Team for Low Power Wireless Audio Streaming Hearing Aids
NXP Semiconductors and hearing aid specialist Widex announced that they have collaborated to develop, test and integrate NXP’s NxH2003 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) audio streaming SoC into the new Widex Beyond hearing aids. The two companies worked closely together throughout the product development cycle, to deliver hearing aid devices that can stream wireless audio from an Apple iOS device, consuming only 2.8 mA current at 1.2 Volts, which is currently the best in the industry. This allows end users to enjoy music directly from their personal devices for prolonged periods of time.
NTi Audio Develops Solution for Unattended Noise Monitoring Stations with Remote Control
NTi Audio has implemented NoiseScout, a complete professional solution for unattended sound level monitoring. With a Noise Monitoring Station from NTi Audio, both short-term sound level measurements and long-term monitoring can be easily achieved. At the core is an XL2 Sound Level Meter, which in turn connects to the Internet via a NetBox. The remote access to the monitoring station is managed via the NTi Audio Gateway or the self-managing NoiseScout Web Portal.

The newest product line from Peerless by Tymphany is the SDF series of woofers, with sizes ranging from 10-15”, built for more bass in smaller-than-traditional enclosures. Digital Audio Labs Expands Brands and Solutions with Acquisition of LaChapell Audio
Digital Audio Labs, based in Chanhassen, Minnesota, confirmed the acquisition of LaChapell Audio, a manufacturer of tube microphone preamps and 500 series studio outboard equipment. Digital Audio Labs currently manufactures solutions for musicians and the installation market with its Livemix and PowerShape brands, and develops OEM audio solutions for a number of partners. With the acquisition of LaChapell Audio, the company returns to its origins in the studio market.
XMOS Acquires Setem Technologies to Drive Development of Next Generation Voice Interfaces
XMOS announced that it has completed the acquisition of Setem Technologies, a pioneer on algorithms that enable separation of voice or conversation signals within a crowded audio environment to achieve optimized input into speech recognition systems. The two companies have been collaborating on next generation voice interfaces and decided upon the combination of the companies to create a leading vendor in the fast-growing application area.

Conexant Delivers AudioSmart Voice Solutions for Baidu’s New DuerOS AI Development Kits and Reference Designs
Conexant announced a collaboration with Chinese company Baidu to release development kits and reference designs for far-field voice-enabled artificial intelligent (AI) devices running on Baidu’s DuerOS platform. The development kits and reference designs will be powered by Conexant's CX20924 4-microphone and CX20921 2-microphone voice input processing solutions. DuerOS is a conversation-based AI system that already supports access to a voice-activated digital assistant for mobile phones, TVs, speakers, and other devices.
