Cadence Introduces Tensilica HiFi 5 DSP Optimized for AI Speech and Audio Processing

Cadence Design Systems announced the Cadence Tensilica HiFi 5 DSP for audio and voice, the company's first IP core optimized for high-performance far-field processing and artificial intelligence (AI)-based speech recognition processing. This fifth-generation HiFi DSP offers 2X audio processing and 4X neural network (NN) processing improvements versus the HiFi 4 DSP, making it ideal for voice-controlled user interfaces in digital home assistants and automotive infotainment.

Alango Technologies is getting ready to launch its new Wear & Hear line of assistive hearing products, starting with BeHear Now, an advanced Bluetooth stereo headset and hearing enhancer, featuring advanced audio processing with personal adjustments. Unique technologies include the company's ListenThrough enhancement of ambient sounds, music and phone calls, and EasyListen, which slows down incoming speech in real time.

Knowles announced a new audio processor platform, the IA8508 open DSP platform, with four high performance, power efficient, heterogeneous cores and 5.7MB of shared memory for a variety of new use cases. The IA8508 advanced audio processor is optimized for performance and power in both near and far-field voice applications – making it the perfect solution for mobile phones, ear-worn products, and IoT devices such as digital assistants, smart speakers and TVs.

Orfeo SoundWorks’s Bluetooth Earphones have been selected as a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Headphones category. The company introduced its InnerMic technology which, combined with VoiceRecovery processing technology allows for total intelligibility in any noisy environment. Basically, the concept consists in placing a microphone inside of the earphones to capture inner voice and block out all sound interference.
