InfoComm International Study Projects $116 Billion AV Industry by 2016

Steady growth is moving commercial AV industry forward, according to a new study revealed by InfoComm International at the InfoComm 2014 tradeshow in Las Vegas. The findings are part of a study commissioned by the organization aimed at sizing the commercial audiovisual industry, now available.

Sennheiser announced at InfoComm (Las Vegas) the creation of a new competence center for innovative streaming solutions, Sennheiser Streaming Technology GmbH (SST). The subsidiary is based in Hamburg and is initially focusing on low-latency streaming to cellular devices.

RAVENNA is clearly gaining momentum in the broadcast arena. The technology for real-time distribution of audio and other media content in IP-based network environments just received the endorsement from GatesAir.

The rumors were true. After much speculation, Apple confirmed the acquisition of Beats Music & Beats Electronics for $3 billion. We know Apple’s headphones weren’t the best thing in the world and iTunes Radio was basically just starting. But… is this a good thing?

Sennheiser is currently promoting a new live-streaming solution that provides users with audio description and hearing support on smartphones at cinemas and theaters. The new development, named CinemaConnect, is also easy to integrate into existing audio systems. The audio specialist recently founded the subsidiary Sennheiser Streaming Technologies GmbH (SST) to develop this and other streaming products.

Daniel Weiss founded Weiss Engineering in 1985. The company designs and manufactures digital audio equipment for mastering studios. Daniel graduated in 1979 with a BSEE from the HTL Rapperswil. Joined the Studer Revox company in 1979 as an Electronics Engineer. There he worked on analog anti-aliasing filters, test signal generators, sampling frequency converters and digital audio processing for a two channel DASH recorder. He left Studer in 1984 to start Weiss Engineering. Daniel is a Fellow of the AES and a Member of the IEEE.
