Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016, JAVA Hi-Fi is making its debut appearance at this year's High End Munich 2019 show and will be demonstrating pre-production samples of two new products: The JAVA V2.0 LDR pre-amplifier and the JAVA Integrated amplifier.

German Physiks Launches New High-End Electronics at AXPONA 2019

Announced in late 2018, German Physiks’ new Emperor Extreme range of high-end electronics will be launched in the U.S. at the AXPONA 2019 show. The range currently comprises a preamplifier, integrated amplifier and stereo and mono power amplifiers and will be further expanded soon with a DSP and Digital Electronic Crossover unit. Knows for its unique omnidirectional speakers and the development of the DDD driver, the German company will now expand into electronics.

With its 30th-anniversary year fast approaching, British manufacturer Chord Electronics has launched ULTIMA, a new state-of-the-art flagship amplifier featuring John Franks’ latest circuit topology, the first all-new design in three decades. The company introduces the ULTIMA mono amplifier and the matching preamp as "the ultimate expression of the finest high-performance, ultra-fast, ultra-high-power amplifier technology available today." The ULTIMA set (pre and 2x mono power amps) is available for £90,000 (approx. $116,000 USD).

Preamp Muting Circuit

Oftentimes a muting circuit for the output of a preamp is left out of DIY applications as an unnecessary or annoying part of the project. This is usually due to the lack of awareness that a simple circuit can perform such a duty. Anyone who occasionally forgets to turn the power amp on last, or switch it off first, endures the annoying thumps and noises that often occur from the preamp upon power cycling.
