The transducer I examined in this Test Bench came from Italian OEM manufacturer B&C Speakers. The DE680TN-8 compression driver is the latest addition to B&C Speakers’ extensive ferrite and neodymium motor 1.4” exit compression drivers. In terms of features, the titanium diaphragm has been redesigned and incorporates a new bent-edge former along with a new dome and surrounds geometry. In this edition of Test Bench I characterized a transducer from Tang Band (TB) Speaker, the 25-2234SD, a new 1” high-resolution dome tweeter with response to 40 kHz. The 25-2234SD is a compact tweeter that features a 1” aluminum/magnesium inverted dome, a neodymium motor structure, an injection-molded faceplate, a protective grill, and a rear cavity with magnetic fluid in the motor gap for cooling. BlieSMa was founded January 16, 2018, by Stas Malikov. The first product being released by BlieSMa is a 34 mm tweeter, the T34A-4. Available from May 2018, the T34A-4 is a 30 mm metal aluminum/magnesium alloy dome tweeter with a substantial feature set that includes extremely low moving mass, and a fully saturated neodymium motor with copper sleeve shorting ring. This edition of Test Bench focuses on the Scan-Speak Ellipticor D3404/552000 dome neodymium motor tweeter. Overall, the D3404/552000 is like a big elongated 28 mm diameter tweeter. For a motor system, Scan-Speak basically scaled up their currently successful Air-Circ tweeter motor with 10 neodymium slugs and copper shorting rings and a titanium former. BlieSMa, located in Blieskastel, Germany, was founded January 16, 2018 by Stas Malikov. Prior to starting BlieSMa, Malikov worked at Ultrasound Technologies, at Morel as a QC manager and a transducer engineer, and at Accuton as a production engineer for the last 8 years. The first product released by BlieSMa is the T34A, a 34 mm tweeter. Available since May 2018, the T34A is a metal aluminum/magnesium alloy dome tweeter.

The new driver from this prestigious UK Pro Sound OEM manufacturer is part of a seven model lineup of high-performance neodymium compression drivers. The PD.CD2N has a 50.8 mm (2”) throat diameter, with a radial neodymium magnet motor structure, an aluminum three-slot phase plug, and nominal 105 W (AES) rated power handling.
