SMPTE, EBU, and VSF Awarded Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering, Science & Technology

The Television Academy will present an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering, Science & Technology to the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and the Video Services Forum (VSF) in recognition of their work on the development of the SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards. SMPTE 2110 defines how to send digital media over IP networks and is intended to be used in broadcast production and distribution facilities.

Amazon, Apple, Google, and the Zigbee Alliance, announced a new working group that plans to develop and promote the adoption of a new, royalty-free connectivity standard to increase compatibility among smart home products, with security as a fundamental design tenet. The working group is named Project Connected Home over IP and intends to simplify development for device manufacturers by creating a new, open standard for Smart Home Device Connectivity.
