RTW Introduces Speech Intelligibility Meter and Other Audio Metering and Monitoring Solutions

German audio metering pioneer RTW announced a new Speech Intelligibility Meter, developed in cooperation with Fraunhofer IDMT. At IBC 2025, the company showcased further advanced metering solutions for immersive audio and AI-powered analysis based on is new TMxCore audio metering platform. RTW also announced a new Network Display feature for its TouchMonitor 5 and TouchControl 5 platforms, allowing users to display metering or monitoring in a standard web browser, completely independent of the device’s on-screen content.

This is the second time that the AES European Convention will be in Warsaw. The selected venue for the event - modern film studios - should be an interesting choice. With LEAP (Listening Effort Prediction from Acoustic Parameters) now integrated into ACQUA 6.1.100, HEAD acoustics offers an optional tool for on-site prediction of the perceived listening effort. The software predicts the perceived listening effort of a listener when hearing an impaired speech signal without the need for an undisturbed reference signal. This makes it possible to carry out measurements more efficiently under laboratory conditions and in real-world applications.

This article describes a new workflow comprising the rendering of audio objects for the production and tuning process, as well as the implementation on resource-limited hardware, for immersive entertainment and personalized sound staging of automotive audio. Since the object-based audio is independent of the loudspeaker setup, this significantly reduces the complexity of the tuning processes for car manufacturers.
