Bose Automotive Systems Designs Active Sound Enhancement for Latest GMC Hummer EV Supertruck

With the launch of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup, Bose is introducing its first-ever application of Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement (EVSE) technology, bringing unprecedented sonic experiences to consumers of the world’s first all-electric supertruck. The new all-electric pickup features a 14-speaker Bose surround sound system, Active Sound Management, AudioPilot, Centerpoint, and SurroundStage technologies. The sound system has been designed and engineered specifically for the unique cabin acoustics of this vehicle.

After securing a position in the high-end automotive market, Swedish audio processing pioneer Dirac now announced the introduction of a new digital audio solution designed specifically for entry-level audio systems. The new automotive audio solution is built upon the company’s 15-year legacy working in the high-end space, while also featuring innovations that address the specific needs of sound systems that address the specific requirements of entry-level vehicles.

Meridian continues to expand its automotive audio business working in close cooperation with car makers. The British audio pioneer has now unveiled the results of its work with Kia Corporation taking in-car audio to another level in the brand new K8 modern sedan. Featuring a purpose-designed 14-speaker surround sound system, Meridian has worked with Kia to provide an exceptional audio inside the new K8 model exploring all the possibilities of its proprietary DSP audio technologies.

McIntosh Laboratory announced that its latest McIntosh Entertainment Systems — the MX1375 Reference Entertainment System, employing 23 specifically tuned speakers, and the MX950 Entertainment System, are going to hit the road in the upcoming 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Both vehicles will be available in mid-2021. The two iconic American brands have been collaborating to develop an exclusive sound system combining imagination and expert engineering in equal parts.

Resonado Labs announced its proprietary Flat Core Speaker (FCS) technology will soon be available to consumers in the recreational vehicle (RV) industry. The novel speaker technology developed by the Chicago-based audio startup will first be implemented in iconic travel brand Airstream's 2022 Touring Coach model line. The launch will represent the first commercial implementation of FCS technology into an established consumer product line, and in automotive audio.

The Audio Product Education Institute (APEI), will host the first of a series of webinars on Automotive Audio on Tuesday, January 19 (12:00pm EST). Titled “Direct Validation of Computational Acoustic Results for Automotive Cabin Simulations,” the webinar will explore automotive sound system implementation and design in a program presented by APEI's Automotive Pillar Chair Roger Shively ( JJR Acoustics) with presentations by industry experts Mads Herring Jensen (COMSOL) and Christof Faller (Illusonic).
