Sony AI and Audiokinetic Partner to Create AI-Powered Sound Effect Search Tool for Professional Production

Sony AI and Audiokinetic announced a collaboration to launch a new AI-powered audio-to-audio and text-to-audio search capability – the first audio production tool of its kind to be available that is specifically designed for sound effects. The new feature, known as Similar Sound Search, allows sound designers to search using sound itself, eliminating reliance on keywords and manual browsing. Developed jointly by Sony AI and Audiokinetic, Similar Sound Search will be available in an upcoming beta release of Wwise, Audiokinetic’s audio middleware solution for interactive and spatial audio development.

Audiokinetic, the company behind cross-platform interactive audio software solutions such as Strata for game sound design, and the Wwise audio development suite, unveiled its contribution to the immersive audio environment of the new NEVO E07 electric vehicle from Changan Automobile, one of the four major automotive groups in China. Wwise Automotive was used to provide the unique ride sonification features for the NEVO E07 transformer SUV launched in China.

As promised, Steinberg released the new version of their award-winning audio post-production software. Nuendo 7 includes seamless integration with Audiokinetic Wwise middleware for game production, in-built re-conforming solution for audio-to-picture post work, VCA fader support, advanced project collaboration tools, brand-new rendering options and much more.

Steinberg has announced it will preview the new version of its professional DAW solution, Nuendo 7 at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Partnering up with audio for games solutions specialist Audiokinetic at this year’s GDC, Steinberg will reveal the next iteration of Nuendo with many new features, including seamless connection to Audiokinetic Wwise Audio Middleware and focus on game audio.

The 10th edition of the GameSoundCon 2014 conference will be held October 7-8 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and features two days of sessions, panel discussions and hands-on workshops from over twenty of the game industry’s leading composers, sound designers and audio directors.
