LG TONE Studio Wearable Around the Neck Personal Surround Speakers and Earbuds Now Available

Introduced at CES 2017 as part of a large range of new personal audio concepts, LG Electronics (LG) announced the availability of its LG TONE Studio wearable personal surround speaker and earbuds featuring a combination of high-quality 32-bit DAC, four speakers - two full range on the top and two vibrating on the bottom - and neckband earbuds, designed in consultation with DTS. The concept allows a personal surround sound experience when watching a movie, playing a video game or simply streaming music.

Cypress Semiconductor announced two new wireless solutions that deliver advanced coexistence and robust connectivity combining 802.11ac high-performance Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The 802.11ac solutions use high-speed transmissions to enable devices with faster downloads and better range, as well as lower power consumption by quickly exploiting deep sleep modes. The solutions are supported in Cypress' popular WICED Studio development platform.

The new wireless speaker (model PJ9) "hovers in place over the accompanying Levitation Station to deliver high-quality audio while also making a lasting impression with its eye-catching design," the company says. Following the announcement made earlier, on December 7, 2016, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) officially adopted Bluetooth 5 as the latest version of the Bluetooth core specification. Key updates to Bluetooth 5 include longer range, faster speed, and larger broadcast message capacity, as well as improved interoperability and coexistence with other wireless technologies.

Audio-Technica’s ATH-DSR9BT Wireless Headphones with Pure Digital Drive and the AT-ART1000 Direct Power Stereo Moving Coil Cartridge have received CES 2017 Innovation Honoree awards from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). The ATH-DSR9BT is the first headphone with wireless Bluetooth technology to employ Audio-Technica’s new Pure Digital Drive system, which keeps the audio signal completely digital from source to driver.
