Microchip introduced the new BM83 SoC, a Bluetooth 5.0 certified dual-mode audio module that contains an on-board Bluetooth stack and audio profiles and supports 24-bit/96kHz high-resolution audio formats to enable high-fidelity wireless audio, including support for Sony’s high fidelity LDAC codec. The combined solution is intended for both new speaker and headphone designs, offering differentiated features.

Wireless stereo earbuds are super-convenient but are locked into proprietary solutions. Consumer-friendly solutions need to be interoperable. In the world of wireless earbuds we fairly quickly recognized, after Apple introduced AirPods, that earbuds connected by a strap were truly unconvincing in their claim to be truly wireless. Why did those other products even start with a strap? Mostly to keep power consumption down and to synchronize between left and right speakers, both of which become trickier if the speakers are really unconnected.

This a Test Bench of Tang Band's W3-2088SOF, a high XMAX 3.5" home audio RBM Micro subwoofer. The W3-2088SOF is built on an injection-molded eight-spoke frame that supports an unusual rectangular housing. The really unusual feature is that the W3-2088SOF does not use a spider. Instead it gets its compliance from two surrounds like a dual spider configuration. The voice coil former is vented below the inside diaphragm and also vented between the two diaphragm.
