CanJam NYC 2017 Headphone Audio Expo Report

CanJam NYC 2017 took place on February 4-5, 2017, in the fabulous Broadway Ballroom at the New York Marriott Marquis, right in the heart of Times Square. Over 2000 earphone and headphone fanatics swarmed over the 55 table-top booths (showing about 100 brands). In this brief report we have chosen to highlight some of the products, companies and technologies that caught our attention.

Promised to start shipping in June, Alo Audio’s new Continental dual mono headphone amp with USB DAC was already the talk of the show at the Headphonium section of The Show Newport. Alo Audio will not be alone with the idea of designing an hybrid tube/solid-state “transportable” headphone amp and USB DAC but it certainly did it with an interesting design.

At the recent CanJam SoCal 2015 event in Costa Mesa, CA, ALO Audio introduced the new Rx portable headphone amplifier, improving on its 2009 original design, now redesigned and optimized for IEMs. The new Rx employs a wide band integrated amplifier and push pull power supply, improved power filtering and ultra low noise floor.
