"This strategic integration deepens Steinway Lyngdorf's leadership in audio innovation and expands our capacity to develop and deliver world-class, fully in-house engineered solutions," says Thomas Birkelund, CEO and CTO of Steinway Lyngdorf.
As part of the planned transition, the core team behind Nexgentec — Rico Vögeli, founder and CEO, and Boas Hochstrasser, CTO — have joined a newly established Swiss branch office of SL Audio A/S, where they will continue to develop and support the product line under the Nexgentec name. "While the former Nexgentec Audio company has ceased operations, the new branch — SL Audio A/S, Skive, Branch Konolfingen — will serve as the foundation for the brand's continued evolution. This structure ensures Nexgentec’s advanced Audio-over-IP solutions remain aligned with Steinway Lyngdorf's exacting standards for innovation, integration, and engineering precision," Thomas Birkelund clarifies.
"Joining Steinway Lyngdorf is an exciting new chapter," adds Rico Vögeli, founder of Nexgentec Audio. "We now have the R&D muscle, in-house engineering expertise, and production capabilities to keep developing the systems we're passionate about — while expanding our reach through one of the most respected names in high-end audio."

Nexgentec has earned admiration in the high-end marine and residential markets for its compact, energy-efficient hardware, proprietary software, and exceptional user control. These attributes have made Nexgentec a favorite among European integrators and align with Steinway Lyngdorf's commitment to delivering sophisticated, high-performance audio experiences that integrate beautifully into architectural and lifestyle settings.
"Rico and Boas have developed a truly unique platform for Audio-over-IP distribution," says Thomas Birkelund. "As a company known for our engineering-led culture, we immediately saw the potential to support and scale their vision. By bringing the brand and its engineering team under the SL Audio umbrella, we’re ensuring a future where reliability, innovation, and integration go hand-in-hand — whether on land or at sea."
"With Nexgentec’s proven expertise in the marine sector — having equipped many of the world's leading superyachts — Steinway Lyngdorf will deepen its focus on high-end marine audio. In the future, Steinway Lyngdorf will leverage our extensive network of US-based custom integrators to introduce Nexgentec's Audio-over-IP solutions to the North American market. Sales channels will remain separate between the two companies, but the shared knowledge base opens new opportunities across luxury residences, commercial environments, hospitality properties, and private resort developments for Nexgentec," Birkelund adds.

"Since its inception, Steinway Lyngdorf has upheld a steadfast commitment to in-house research, product development, and manufacturing. With Nexgentec's integration, we bring their proven AoIP technology into our engineering ecosystem — further reinforcing our reputation as an uncompromising innovator and preferred OEM partner for discerning brands worldwide."
In the announcement, Steinway Lyngdorf also projects that this new operation will fuel the development of new, high-performance products that leverage decades of combined experience from all Peter Lyngdorf's Danish companies, including Lyngdorf Audio, DALI (Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries), Purifi Audio, and its holding company with its global operations. This extensive network will help Nexgentec introduce its proven AoIP technology to the group’s dealer and distributor networks across international luxury residential, marine, and commercial markets.
Founded in 2015, Nexgentec was launched originally just as a brand, responding to the lack of audio networking interfaces suitable for high-end marine and residential luxury markets. The launch of its own Dante AoIP solutions was welcomed in the industry, leading to a complete range of digital audio processors and multichannel amplifiers, all supporting Dante and AES67 interfaces. By providing a range of proprietary software modules and an easy-to-configure distribution matrix, management, and monitoring platform, Nexgentec became quickly regarded as "the last missing link," taking audio-over-IP to the next level. Operating as a brand since the beginning of its activities, Nexgentec Audio was officially founded as a company in July 2024.
