Audio Precision APx500 Flex Now Supports 16 ASIO Channels at No Extra Cost

September 19 2025, 01:10
Audio Precision announced a significant upgrade to its APx audio analyzer series. Originally introduced in 2019 as their most affordable way to perform audio measurements, APx500 Flex now includes support for up to 16 ASIO channels. The APx500 Flex audio analyzer solution authorizes Audio Precision’s APx500 measurement software to operate independently of an AP hardware analyzer, with licensing controlled by an APx500 Flex Key.

APx500 Flex previously allowed two-channel ASIO connectivity with the option to upgrade to as many as eight channels. The price remains unchanged, but the number of channels included increases from 2 to 16. This drives down the price per channel for budget-conscious applications. This release also adds 16-channel ASIO support as standard to the APx517 acoustic analyzer and the recently released APx516 analyzer, expanding the range of analyzers boasting this capability.

"This update makes APx500 Flex the highest value solution for multichannel audio test," says Dan Knighten, General Manager at Audio Precision. "It’s now easier and more affordable for engineers to perform high-quality measurements across multiple channels."

Designed to work with professional multichannel audio interfaces, APx500 Flex combines the power of the APx500 software platform with the flexibility of ASIO-based hardware. Common applications for a multichannel version include automotive cabin acoustic measurements, or production test environments where measuring multiple channels in parallel reduces time and cost. Whether for testing in the lab or on the production line, this update APx500 Flex configuration offers more capability for less cost, helping audio product engineers get the job done efficiently.

In lieu of a purpose-built analyzer, Flex can be paired with ASIO-capable third-party audio interfaces to create a cost-effective solution for a variety of acoustic and electrical test applications. The APx500 Flex solution also allows users to leverage test development done in the R&D cycle through the ability to import project and template files developed for AP hardware analyzers, thereby reducing test development time and maintaining consistency in test methodology across the organization. And APx500 Flex also makes for a powerful, portable audio measurement system for application engineers and QA technicians on the go.
