Ascendo Immersive Audio offers a comprehensive range of high-performance speakers and electronics, including active and passive precision subwoofers, all purpose-built for home theater. When Ascendo introduced its 80" infrasonic subwoofer, many doubted that it would be even a real product. After all, the 50 Sub Pro model, introduced in 2017, was understood by almost anyone in the industry that saw it at a show (yours truly included) as a booth prop, intended to attract visitors and generate Instagram selfies. It was hard to believe that anyone would be interested in a 50" infrasonic subwoofer, but the reality is that Ascendo did it because it had orders, and the company was even surprised to see a few copies introduced in the market shortly after.
Again, for the 80" subwoofer, the Ascendo engineering team had to explore uncharted territory in dimension and performance, and had to overcome many mechanical, magnetic, and electrical challenges to produce it. After the pandemic, Ascendo returned to trade shows with a clear engineering statement from a company that had actually done it. The 80 Sub Pro was described as "the most powerful and precise cinema subwoofer in the world," claiming speed, definition, and the ability to generate frequencies in the single-digit frequency range.
"We are proud to be the leader in infrasonic bass. Our continuous innovation in this category translates to an extremely high-performance, emotionally connected experience that enriches state-of-the-art home theaters and music reproduction systems with bass you can feel," says Geoffrey Heinzel, co-managing partner, and head of sales & marketing of Ascendo. "These two new subwoofers are the largest in the world for home cinema, and are incredibly powerful, efficient, and fast."
According to Ascendo, the THE64 Sub Pro and THE100 Sub Pro noise performance has been enhanced beyond what any previous woofer design has achieved at ultra-low frequencies. An optimized, shallower compliance curve means improved linear motion and control, while a lowered driver resonance, combined with optimized enclosure dimensions, enables even lower f3 points for deeper bass extension.
Other improvements to the previous versions of Ascendo's large infrasonic subwoofers include a new field-replaceable re-cone kit, developed to allow quick and efficient serviceability in the field. THE64 replaces Ascendo's existing 50" model, while THE100 replaces the 80" model, with updated references that reflect the pro industry method of including the driver basket in the dimensions.
"These advancements position the THE64 and THE100 subwoofers as the most advanced infrasonic transducers ever produced — delivering breathtaking power and precision that must be heard to be believed," the company states.
